A prática da atividade física sempre deve ser acompanhada de cautela e bom senso para que os exercícios não causem problemas devido aos excessos e imprudências. As dores originadas por processos inflamatórios em músculos, tendões e articulações acabam muitas vezes sendo aceitas pelo esportista como um preço a ser pago pela ambição de intensificar treinos e obter melhor desempenho.
E este cenário é relativamente frequente: Uma pesquisa publicada no BMJ open, revista científica inglesa, relatou um estudo de pesquisadores que avaliaram corredores de uma prova de maratona realizada na Alemanha em 2010. Segundo a publicação, 54% dos participantes da prova fizeram uso de algum tipo de analgésico ou anti-inflamatório de forma preventiva, visando melhor resultado na corrida. Claramente nestes casos, o objetivo era mascarar a dor.
Este hábito é muito perigoso, devemos lembrar sempre que a dor é um sinal de alerta e mais do que isso, é o principal mecanismo de defesa que o corpo utiliza. Quando a dor é mascarada por efeito de remédios, os danos principalmente no aparelho locomotor são certamente muito exacerbados, pois os limites impostos pela dor deixam de ser respeitados.
Além disso, os medicamentos utilizados nestas circunstâncias, sem a devida indicação e acompanhamento médico, são potencialmente capazes de trazer problemas ainda mais sérios, como cãibras estomacais, úlcera gástrica, sangramentos intestinais e até mesmo problemas renais.
Não devemos aceitar a convivência com a dor. Qualquer processo doloroso precisa ser investigado.
