A flexão dorsal, ou dorsiflexão, é o nome utilizado para denominar o movimento que acontece quando a parte superior do pé (dorso) flexiona em direção à tíbia (ou o contrário, a tíbia é flexionada para frente). E é comumente associada ao tornozelo, mas também pode ocorrer na articulação que separa a parte da frente da parte de trás do pé, chamada articulação transversa do tarso.
Em algumas vezes o movimento de dorsiflexão acontece (quase) exclusivamente no tornozelo, mas em alguns movimentos funcionais é necessário que o movimento articular ocorra no tornozelo e no mediopé (que como o próprio nome já diz, é a parte do meio do pé).
Você deve estar se perguntando o porque isso é importante, caso você não saiba vou explicar agora.
Normalmente, quando nós aterrissamos no solo (de um salto, por exemplo) nós precisamos que a nossa base corporal, o pé, seja flexível. Isso ajuda a se adaptar ao terreno e também contribui para carregar os nossos músculos. Mas quando precisamos de impulso para a locomoção, o pé flexível seria uma grande desvantagem mecânica.
Funções comuns como andar e pular, precisam de dorsiflexão mesmo que você não perceba. Ambas, necessitam de constante impulso e suporte para o impacto ao chegar ao chão.
A falta dessa função pode comprometer a função biomecânica como um todo. Alguns pacientes se queixam de dores nos ombros ou nos joelhos sem nem saber que o movimento tão básico do pé, pode ser a causa. Um corredor, por exemplo, que não tem uma dorsiflexão em bom funcionamento pode ter dificuldade em ativar os glúteos, um músculo super importante para a performance durante uma corrida, e com isso ter que usar outros músculos para compensar a falta e assim causar um desgaste por uso inadequado.
Entre as causas da falta ou mau desempenho da dorsiflexão, o sedentarismo, a permanência por tempo excessivo na mesma posição e o uso de sapatos que impedem esse movimento, são os principais.
Como precisamos da dorsiflexão tanto para impulsionar o corpo quanto para suportar a aterrissagem sob o solo, é importante que a função biomecânica esteja funcionando em perfeita harmonia para que o movimento articular ocorra nas duas direções citadas acima. E para isso, a flexibilidade 3D precisa ser trabalhada.
